  2. They are cosying up with China. Their top leadership has been visiting Beijing lately. SCS disputes dont affect normal business and diplomatic relationship. US has little influence among the other Asean members, outside of their former colony.

  3. ​@rainieresguerra6519 You may notice that Phillippines is the only one from Asean bloc that US managed to rope in. No surprise there. While the majority are either neutral or pro China. Despite the fact that some of them have ongoing SCS disputes with China. For them, China is their largest trading partner and they are part of BRI as well. They are just being pragmatic and stayed at the sidelines.
