  3. So IMF loans are non toxic? You should go into the history of IMF loans to the near bankrupt country of Sri Lanka. Their total external debt is approximately USD 51billion. China loans USD7.5 billion or about 15%. IMF loans account for almost 80%. In fact IMF just bailout Sri Lanka with another USD3 billion in March this year when they defaulted their loan back in April 2022. This is the 17th bailout given since joining IMF back in 1950. Sri Lanka is hooked on IMF life support.
