@bwofficial1776 They don't have any local brands to support. So it makes a lot of sense to get the latest, well-built, and affordable Chinese brands. A big win for the Aussie consumers.

In other words: You get what you paid for. This applies to all products in general. .

He's gone and forgotten. The auto industry has moved on. Without the Chinese money, the brand would have followed its founder to the grave. So be realistically not dream of the by gone days.
23
@Jehowy666 Ford Motors CEO is their no 1 fan. Uses the Max version as his daily drive.
21
It kept the brand alive. Without the Chinese money and their adapting to market needs, they would have joined their founder in the grave.
10
Nruh. If the Chinese did not come in and change their Chapman philosophy, they would have joined their founder in the grave. It's a business and it needs to make money. Period.

Yup. Can't afford one either. So let's scoff at it. Makes us feel better.

@ackvig Source: trust bruh

@fireballchaser If Lotus continued to do what they were doing, rather than adapting to what the market wants, they would have joined their founder in the grave.

@edudario1974 Get tour facts correct before commenting. This is a Xiaomi ev not BYD. Crappy you say. But Washington and EU are so worried about these crappy Chinese evs coming to their market. They had to rush to impose upto 100% tariff to protect their own brands from getting destroyed. The market will decide whether they are crappy or not.
2
Cope harder. Why are you bothered by this. Do you own and drive a pre Chinese owned Lotus? Without the Chinese stepping in, they would have gone under and disappeared. Like Saab.
2
@nfugitt89 They didn't and couldn't. Your point is moot.
1
@timotheegoulet1511 Sure. But a whole lot cheaper and faster.
1
@Sam-wd9ly How do you know when they don't have a presence there. Your Ford Motors CEO actually had one shipped directly from Shanghai and he uses it as his daily drive. Instead of a Porsche. Why do you think Washington had to rush to impose 100% tariff as protection from these Chinese evs.
1
@bwofficial1776 I know it's tough coping. But it is what it is. They are better built and more affordable than anything out there. Have a look at the Euro NCAP snd the ANCAP sites and see how many Chinese evs have 5 star safety rating. Unless you don't trust European and Australian test agencies.

@danielmeinhardt8605 Sure let's keep using this video of a reckless driver over and over and over again. Meanwhile Xiaomi is close to delivering at least 150k SU7 in just 9 months since launching. Wait for July 2025 when their second factory will be ready to churn out another 150k evs annually. Just in time for their second model the YU 7 suv launch.

" What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" British Shakespeare said that.

But it kept the brand alive. Refusing to adapt to market changes would have seen they joining their founder in the grave. You should thank the Chinese for saving not only Lotus, but also Volvo and MG as well. Lotus could have easily be another Saab story.

@bwofficial1776 You mean like your beloved and iconic VW Beetle is a ripoff from the Tatra 97.

" What's in a name. That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" A very English gentleman named Shakespeare said that.

@alexbakalov281 BYD is building one in Hungary.
