Sure you can do that. But most components will be sourced from China for final assembly in India and Vietnam. Which is happening right now. Like for example solar panels made in Vietnam and destined for the US market. As for India, they are highly dependent on China. They are incurring a trade deficit of 100 billion dollars annually with China. This is mostly due to importing of electrical and electronic parts for their assembly of finished products. The supply chain will still be in China. Expecting both countries to build their own and decouple completely from China is a very tall order. Possible but will require huge amount of time, expertise and capital. So much for a quick decoupling. Wont happen overnight.

You get what you paid for. You want quality stuff don't expect Walmart prices. US is soo afraid of mid to low quality Chinese evs that they rushed to impose 100% tariff protection, eventhough none is for sale there. You need high tariff when you can't compete with a better built and more affordable product.

Delusional. Why do you think Biden had to rush to impose 100% tariff as protection. Eventhough there is no Chinese ev selling there. He has to protect his own from far better built and more affordable Chinese imports. High tariffs are for those who can't compete and know they can't.
