  3. One of the great cultural mysteries of the Western World, is why Americans think of places like this as restaurants. Or why the even HAVE places like this. Incredibly lowbrow, franchised, "family restaurants". They're such a bizarre and unappealing dining option, and any which have tried to operate outside America have failed spectacularly. If we're not looking for fast food, we expect sophisticated food cooked by hardcore Foodies. That franchise crap would never wash.
