To an Australian, a 45 minute drive to the nearest city seems crowded. Our rural towns can be many hours from a city. Some are so far, that inhabitants might not visit the city for years at a time. Some never visit. We have wildernesses (true wilderness ... as in no humans, no roads, no towns) that cover many thousands of square kilometers. Some of our farms are bigger than Ireland.
