  2.  @smartyjonez5470  Exactly. I'm in a related field, and I guarantee this is true of homeless everywhere in the First World. 99% of them are there by choice. Just because they make choices which they may then live to regret, does not change the fact that they chose it.

  3.  @jolenejoleeene  It's pretty damned simple. Finish school. Don't become an addict. Don't have kids you can't afford. Don't live beyond your means. Don't trash relationships with family/friends/partners. Get a job and keep it. Get married and stay married.

  4.  @thewatcheronthewalls4809  Because they chose to live in a way which prevents them having homes. They don't stop using drugs/drink, or clean themselves up, or repair relationships with family, or any of the crucial steps for recovery and reintergration.

  5. The reason the root cause is not addressed, is that the overwhelming majority of Progressives won't agree to it. Every person who complains about these benches, is part of the problem. The root cause requires tough love .. and it's called tough because it's tough on the giver, not the receiver. Progressives want easy fixes (IOW throwing money) that don't soil their own hands.

  9. NYC is full of shelters, and they're half empty all the time. If you don't care to understand WHY, you're not genuinly interested in helping to reduce homelessness.

  14. Bingo! This dissolution and degradation of Western societies is a direct result of misguided compassion (which isn't compassion at all). Every dollar thrown, is another dollar funding more homelessness.
