My own Great Great Grandfather from Schlelig-Holstein, Germany left without asking to avoid being forced to fight a War of Colonialism by Kaiser Wilhelm in the 1880's and 90's against The African's. He wasn't going to kill or be killed over stupid evil colonialism of a racist nature and hence came to the U.S, as "BOTH" an Asylum Seeker and a Draft Dodger.
