+SalianSaxon The Original Schlieffen Plan called for the annexation of Holland likely for two reasons. One to make the invasion of France easier with a wider mouth and to make Holland part of an expanded Germanic Empire. Given many ultra-right wing German Nationalist's attitude starting in the mid 19th century. That similar people of Saxon ancestry should be united. Not to repeat what I said in the above comment. But, even without the Nazi's version of Nationalism. Many people like both Schlieffen and Ludendorf wanted a greater empire of what they viewed as a new, much more powerful, and supposedly purer empire than that of the Holy Roman Empire. Hence their disdain for Jews, Catholics, and Protestant's. As they believed Christianity and Judahism made people weak, peace loving, and or selfish............An early day German Science Fiction Writer and Nationalist who's name I can't recall wrote a popular story before WW I hoping it would inspire the German Immigrants who settled here in Oregon and Washington to rise up and make an Empire of their own in North-America, complete with Flying Robots and what not! Said writer had an extreme disdain for those who immigrated to the U.S. to avoid War, the Military Draft in the 19th century, and to seek Monetary Prosperity as selfish, weak, and quote on quote dreamers.
