  1. My Grandparents & Great Uncle on both sides of my family worked for the S.P. or Southern Pacific Railroad here in Central California. One of their Co-Workers was from the Wearmacht’s “Railroad Corp”. Who walked quite a ways to surrender to U.S. Troops. He was a Model Prisoner of War so he was given Immigration Status quickly after the War and settled down here in Central Cal. When he hired out on “The S.P.” They only asked him, “If He’d Been In The Army”?. Which he had been, they just didn’t know which one. A few years later a “Road Foreman” finally cornered him on that fact. “You didn’t tell us what Army You were In”” ! Which he curtly answered, Would you have hired me if you had known ?.... And no he never worked those Death Trains only Ammo and Troop Trains. .......... He was nice guy according to my Grandparents, Him & His Wife Owned & Ran a “Home Bakery” in Lodi, CA for many years. “Dutch Meineke” was his name !
