  1. I purchased an S-mode on clearance without realizing what it was. If you're okay with not using your browser of choice and do not need to download lots of stuff, it is okay. But when I had an issue, Microsoft needed me to turn off s-mode just to fix my issue. Support literally can't fix anything on an s-mode!!

  32. There's a law that now requires e-signatures to be accepted under most, if not all, circumstances. I think it is called the E-Sign Act, passed in the early 2000s, so by now the physical signature is not only superfluous but also not required. I've refused every time when I've been told otherwise, and the other party had to comply.

  42. I had a proctor from ProctorU during a university exam use their remote access to install malware. Fortunately, it occurred during the very last time I was forced to use ProctorU, and I was able to mitigate the issue before any seriousness.

  43. Their ability to change test results would be out of their realm as they are inside the university learning management system. As for getting anything done about it, they are able to sneak it in with all the proctor software they use. If I didn't watch closely the previous times, I would have never known. All was backed up so I reinstalled windows and couldn't prove anything. Nor was I taken seriously because the complaints about them are copious. Moreover, their terms and conditions provide no recourse, although the way the exclusionary clauses are written, I don't see how they would hold up in court. But pursuing that avenue requires time, money, patience, and energy. It's no wonder the rise of its use coincided with many intrusions into school networks.
