  1. It's pretty hard to talk eloquently when you're as furious as Sasse is. I don't really care for Sasse's recent history, but for being my Senator, I'm glad to see him pissed off about something righteous for a change.

  2. Garland's nomination was dead because it was made by a lame duck president at the end of his second term. The Democrats played it up to be political partisanship but the truth is that there's lots of precedent for ignoring a late nomination such as his. The idea is that since an election has just or will soon occur, and a new president is guaranteed to be in power, let the voices of the voters choose the new person to fill the seat. If the roles were reversed, the Democrats would have done the exact same thing to a Republican's nomination, as well they should have.

  4. The first time it happened was in 1852. No one has claimed there is anything in the Constitution about it or that there's some magic of unwritten limit to the number of nominations in a presidential term. But I still think Mr. Biden, the "Chuck Grassley" of yesteryear, said it best in 1992.
