  1. You are a real American. You are seizing the opportunities in front of you and choosing to not be a victim. I hope others see your example of character and determination. One can't go through life expecting to agree or be friends with everyone they meet, but one can only choose how they behave—not how others behave. Your comment is the epitome of what Dr. King Jr. envisioned. It is sad that we all have so much more in common than we do different, but we are trained to focus on the differences. We all need to work together to reverse that trend. We do not have to divide ourselves by race or creed or sex to aspire to some moral equivalency. That being said, never forget all sorts of races and creeds have contributed to this country and modern society we currently enjoy. A black man invented the traffic signal. Coffee consumption was begun by Muslims. Catholicism spawned the modern university system. The Chinese first devised the compass. These are very limited examples, but I doubt any of us can imagine modern life without these things to start with. Life is already hard... we should all strive to help each other through it because we're stronger together.

  3. Instead of lazily "hating it all," stop and consider which issues are important to the survival of our country, and which stances of those issues support what's best for our country. It it helps, consider the mindsets and values of those that founded this country. They were a lot smarter than most of us are.
