  1. Taxation is not extortion. It's a necessary "evil" of living in our society, just as having government at all is a necessary evil. Monopolies are a sometimes-necessary evil. Saying there should be no taxes is the same thing as saying "I'm entitled!"

  8.  @mikeb5372  The power company where I live is a necessary monopoly. It isn't practical to have 2 or 3 or 17 sets of power lines running everywhere to service just their customers. Same for the water company. Same for the gas company. Speaking of ridiculous statements...

  9.  @murphy511  The problem is there is no one to vote for who will curb the massive spending. And, even if there were, that's just one person in a sea of hundreds. And votes don't matter anyway, as we have seen.

  10.  @mikeb5372  Would it require it? No. Would it be an eventuality? Yes, in some parts. Look at multiple cable providers. The nearly-infinite reach of cost-savings means controlling your own infrastructure, and not paying someone else for it.
