The use of nukes on Japan was different. The invasion of Japan was the only alternative to end the war and that was estimated to cost millions of Japanese and American lives. Warnings were given before the nuclear strikes. The Nukes on Japan were used to end the war, not start it.

@jndmichel Japan attacked the USA. Ukraine did not attack Russia. Russia wouldn't be using nukes to end the Ukraine War, but to escalate it. But on the topic of comparisons, Putin claims to be defending ethnic Russians in Ukraine. Hitler also annexed the Sudetenland, Czechia, and Austria to "protect" ethnic Germans. Putin's supporters have claimed that Ukraine is not a real nation. Hitler said the same thing about Poland to justify the genocide he committed there. Hitler even held fake elections in Austria and Slovakia to justify annexation just like Putin did in Ukraine. It makes me think Putin is the real Nazi.

A lot of English-speaking pro-Putin supporters follow this channel because it's non-biased or less biased. So that could skew the poll.

@jndmichel If the use of nuclear weapons on civilians was going to end a war and save lives, I would support it, which the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki did do.

That's because Americans value their lives more than the Russians do. The USA could've gone into invading Japan and suffered as many casualties as Russia did at Stalingrad (if not more), and just like Stalin, we could inflate those numbers by killing our own fellow Americans just for bragging rights 80 years later. Or, we could nuke Japan twice and have them surrender to end the war with fewer deaths.
