  2. Americans just don't like trains. Especially long distance train trips. If Amtrak was a private company, it would've gone out of business 30 years ago

  3. Trains just aren't popular in America. There is no successful private passenger train company. And buses quickly disappear outside the big cities. Lots of open land over here and small towns.

  4.  @jlust6660  Texas, Missouri, Kanas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio, and Iowa have huge swathes of NOTHING. I'm sorry you live on the coat with 50% of the population, but the other 50% of the population that lives on 70% of the land, have no use for trains and expensive public transit.
