It doesn't matter if they pass gun control through Congress. Multiple states have laws that prohibit enforcement of new Federal gun laws. Idaho is one such state. If California can legally provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants from Federal Agents, then any other state can protect Gun Owners from Federal Agents. It's the same reason why Marijuana is a Federal crime while still being legal in many US states. Same thing can apply to firearms.
