  1. People are complicated. History is complicated. It's hard to ever say the majority of people have ever gone about their lives with conscious, evil intent. Some people are deemed evil simply through opposing perspective. Some organizations are deemed evil simply because of belief or lack of information. Most of humanity is going to act for their own gains or at least on behalf of their own well-being. If the Romans had not existed, other people would've taken their place. So to say the Romans were "evil" is a loaded statement. To many of the Germanic Tribes, the Romans were evil, but it's hard to say some of the Germanic Tribes wouldn't have acted the same way if in Rome's position. And Rome was complicated, just like people are complicated. Rome brought many benefactors that shaped the modern world. But of course, Romans had also done many terrible and malicious acts that affected many people in the world negatively.
