  2. Yoou got dirty looks, because they're professionals doing their job. They expect you to act the same way. Taking selfies makes you look like your not taking it seriously and wasting their time, especially since you set off the border alarm.

  3. Military exercises are somewhat meant to showoff fire power, but they are mostly training exercises. Training for war has consistently shown to improve soldiers effectiveness in the real thing. It NATOs case, it allows foreign units and military to cooperate more effectively and efficiently, it allows them to learn from each other, they can learn each others strengths and weaknesses, it allows the unexperienced soldier to get a feel for battle, and it allows competition between units/ militaries. This competition pushes them to preform their best, to cooperate and learn from others so that they can perform better.
