  2. In the US there's something called insurance premiums. After you spend say $2,000 on hospital bills, the insurance will cover the rest. It depends on your plan etc. If your really poor, you can get Obamacare or some states, like Wisconsin and Vermont also have state sponsored healthcare for the poor.
