  1. The German squads were more likely to have more experience in 1944. I remember an interview were they said that freshly trained Americans soldiers were told to save their ammo till they saw their target. American veterans had to drill out of their head that they had more than enough ammo. They should shoot to suppress the enemy till they could get closer and shoot them. The American M1 Garands, plus aircraft and artillery gave them better firepower. The MG-42 was the center of German tactics, using it to suppress the enemy while riflemen and squad leaders moved accordingly around it.
