  1. The problem with nationalism, especially ethno-nationalism and Fascism is that these ideologies are xenophobic. These countries don't aid each other. At best, they see each other as useful tools in the short-term. Italy and Germany had no loyalty to each other. Mussolini even feared Germany would invade to annex the German-speaking parts of northern Italy. The Democratic Western Allies had a better alliance and better cooperation than the Axis and it showed immensely
