I've noticed that democracies tend to have better militaries simply because training and exercises are actual practice for combat. In China, Russia and North Korea, "military exercise" means the cameras get to film their soldiers all firing perfectly in sync and marching perfectly across muddy ground. It is not enough in war to look cool. War is often a battle of survival and soldiers have to know what do, with or without cameras present.

mkkiani How does that improve the combat effectiveness of 10 artillery guns firing at exact the same time? How does that improve the effectiveness of soldiers firing their weapon only at the same time as their buddy? How does pulling the trigger at the same time as everyone else prepare them for combat?

mkkiani 30 artillery pieces firing at the same time isn't training. It's just coo effect. That's my whole point. Chinese, Russian and North Korean military exercises are just to look cool on front of the camera. They don't care about actual training.
