The first thing you tell a car salesman when they ask "What's your budget?", you always lie and tell them its lower than it really is because 1) They're gonna still try to push the limit of your budget and 2) after fees and taxes, the car is always gonna cost more than the "sale price". Second thing is, cut to the chase. Don't let them have you sit there all day doing nothing. If you want a car that is there, you want to get in and get out. They're gonna assume most people don't want to be rude or curt and they use that to their advantage. The last and most important thing is to get pre-approved for a loan at your bank and then wait until the last moment to let the car dealership know that you already have a loan. The car dealership wants you to take out a loan through a bank that they find so that they can make money off of being an unnecessary middle man. Going through your own bank will always be cheaper in the long run. Always.
