For those who don't know, the Battle of Ilovaisk started on 7 August 2014. Although Ukrainian forces were able to enter the city on 18 August, they were encircled between 24 and 26 August by overwhelming Russian military forces that crossed the border, joining the battle. After days of encirclement, Ukrainian commander Yuriy Bereza came to an agreement with Russian commanders in Ilovaisk to allow Ukrainian troops to withdraw from the city. The Russians lied and broke the agreement. They massacred over 1,000 unarmed Ukrainian soldiers as they tried to leave the city.

@NormanLy101 I would like to see the written document that promises no eastward expansion. There are numerous sources that say otherwise. You repeat Russian propaganda

@NormanLy101 NATO never promised to not expand east. Even when countries from Eastern Europe did join, they never sent NATO soldiers east of Germany until 2014, when Russian annexed Crimea. Russia was even part of the NATO Partnership for Peace. The Russian Separatists broke many ceasefire agreements, including when they shot down the Malaysian passenger plane.

@NormanLy101 Russia was part of the NATO program Partnership for Peace until 2014. NATO didn't expand eastward. Those nations joined willingly.
