  5. Here's the reasons, I think: 1) unresolved geopolitical conflicts (like Kashmir) 2) New Cold Wars (China vs USA and Iran vs Saudi Arabia) 3) New military technology is getting more expensive. A lot of it is complex, takes time, lots of people, lots of resources and lots of testing. 4) The US military-industrial complex makes, at least the USA, always spend on it

  6.  @Tesla_Copilot  As of September 2014, the Department of Defense was estimated to have "$857 million in excess parts and supplies" and that number has only grown. Separately, in 2023, the US Defense Department spends $282 billion on just maintenance costs alone, out of a budget of $773 billion. Most of the stuff being maintained has been sitting in the desert or in warehouses uselessly. Congress wants to expand the US Defense Departments budget so that it can procure new aircraft and vehicles. Why not give these old vehicles soaking up taxpayer dollars to countries that need it, while we buy new stuff to replace it? Wouldn't that also create jobs here in the US?

Especially since most of this military expenditure is wasted on things sitting in storage doing nothing. The stuff in storage can at least go to countries that need it

  22. I can get a decent house for $150,000 in Wisconsin. My mortgage is $800 per month. I can get a decent apartment for $600-700 per month. People from California, Washington, Oregon and New York scream for a $15 minimum wage, but for most of us in the middle of the country, $15 is enough to live comfortably, not minimum wage worthy.
