If you're going to build an alliance, you want to be more like NATO and less like the Warsaw Pact. If your going to build an alliance that benefits your country, you're going to have to sacrifice some sovereignty. The US has strong influence in NATO, but by no means are other NATO members puppets of the USA. The USA wanted NATO to join in the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, but ended up going in to those conflicts with only a handful of allies, because the other members had said no. In addition, the Warsaw Pact had invaded its own members, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. NATO has never invaded its own members

I could see China making an alliance with Pakistan, North Korea and Laos. Otherwise, I don't think they have many nations that would be willing to fight and die alongside China
