"BMW SOURCED transmission" Sourced from ZF, BTW.

Supra's a front-engined, rear-wheel drive car. The Evora and Emira obviously aren't.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - using the Corvette isn't exactly a good example considering that Duntov already envisioned it to be MR long before the C8 came. The Supra? No such plans, besides there's the MR-2 for the MR fun.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - the Emira and Evora carry a different legacy, not the Supra's. That's where I'm pointed at. As for the B58, something tells me you are underestimating just how capable that lump of closed-deck aluminum is (hint: won the Formula D championship a few times and even powered the GR86 in the same series. It also won the DTM Trophy). And this is where I'm getting ticked off: people wanted Toyota to build their own car. Yet (and here's the most important bit), we actually sh***ed on the A80 back when it was sold new (evident by its sales numbers, which the current gen surpassed). And even if Toyota could pull it off, we will still complain about the price and say "get the Corvette". People forgot about this. I suggest not making the same mistake that plagued the previous model.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - a "sh*t BMW" that's even more capable and race-bred than the Z4. Besides real-world numbers don't fully tell the whole story (just need to know where to look). Again, don't make the same mistake that plagued the A80. Besides, isn't there one user who actually witnessed just how bad the situation the A80 was in back in the 90's?

"...but us old heads know better." - except the part where the A80 received a good amount of criticism from the fans, resulting in way less sales than the A70 model in the U.S. alone and its end of production for the market in '98?

@MELORICKY - "The A80 was a success!" - no, not quite. In fact, mentioning the price back in the day undermines your argument somewhat. That's why I mentioned the U.S. market specifically. "Toyota should have done the same thing that Nissan did with it's Z period." - given the issues reported with the Z, Toyota partnering with BMW for the straight-6 engine seemed like a good idea. It also doesn't help that not a lot of people bothered to buy and tune the Lexus lineup en masse.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - dude, your original comment implied engine placement, not body style. That's what I pointed out earlier.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - dude, again we're still in the engine configuration. Something tells me your arguments are way weaker, I'm afraid

Doesn't seem like that. Toyota were already conservative regarding the sales anyway (even though it suprassed the A80 by a few thousand in North America).

And yet, factoring in the optional extras, the Corvette is more expensive.

@0PsychosisMedia0 - nope. The Emira and Evora are not "true Supra successors."

This comment misses a lot of contexts.
