  1. Toyota was looking for a straight-6 engine. BMW has more experience in making that configuration, so Toyota turned to them. Then, they extensively checked and redesigned the engine to meet their quality standards.

  3. The Supra was never, EVER designed to compete with either the GT-R or NSX. Up until the A90, the Supra's main target was the Nissan Z cars. Funnily enough, the GT-R and NSX are two different vehicles (one's a successor to a homologation special, and the other was meant to rival Ferrari's less expensive offerings at the time, specifcally the 348).
