  1. Except, reusing the 2JZ isn't exactly straightforward: you need to do some extensive re-engineering for it to meet emissions and performance requirements. Not to mention that its block is made of iron. Finally the JZ was used on a multitude of Toyota cars, not just the Supra. It get expensive just to use it only for one car.
