"Toyota as a company should be ashamed to say that's there 45 years of iconic sport car. When in reality it's 95% of BMW parts and built." - we didn't buy enough RC Fs, we didn't buy enough LC 500s, and more telling, we didn't buy enough A80 Supras. "It's still short and ugly body anyway when comparing to MK4 Supra" - funny thing here is that these also apply to the A80 back when it was brand new.

We didn't buy enough A80 Supras and actually hated it at first, so there're those. Besides, if the Supra is a rebadged BMW, the driving would have been too different from what it currently is.

@alexgerstmann3007 - that last comment suggest you are the one who doesn't know much about the Supra nameplate. For one, the Supra uses three lines of engines over the years: the M, JZ, and BMW's B58. Two, I'm not sure if you're aware, but the A80 Supra was also just as hated back in the day (especially by some in the A70 crowd). This is the same situation the current car is experiencing. And the third, manufacturers get many of their parts from external suppliers: ZF for their transmissions, Bosch for the electricals. And one funny thing is the A80's transmission: Getrag made it.

@alexgerstmann3007 - "which is a total abortion abortion of a car" I suggest stopping here. As I've mentioned, the A80 got just as much hatred back in its day. Besides, with the current economic situation and tightening emissions, the current Supra is pretty much the best thing a lot of people seem to not appreciate.

@alexgerstmann3007 - "Supra only used a 1 j into Jay-Z and the mark for is what we're talkin about" Yep, clearly ignoring the prior generations of Supra. EDIT: Before I forget, the JZ is used on a buch of other Toyota and Lexus cars as well.

And yet, the A80 got a lot of hate and didn't sell well.

Doesn't work that way. RnD costs, plus emissions compliance.

"if Toyota didn't abandon the Supra name/model for ~20 tears between 4th and 5th generation." - more like we were the ones who turned their back on the nameplate with the initial dislike the A80 model received and the low sales numbers compared to the A70. Besides, Japan suffered economically in the 90's (some of its effects still linger today).

Not gonna happen. Gonna cost a good chunk of money to meet performance requirements and emissions.
