Comments by "pm ayo" (@pmayo7894) on "2021 Toyota Supra meets the BMW M2 CS: the Mk4's real successor | Jason Cammisa on the Icons Ep. 01" video.
SupraMKV forums did a dimensions comparison: the current Supra is a tad shorter and wider than the A80.

Not quite a "disgrace", when you dig deeper... "Toyota should had just redeveloped it themselves" - and then you'll complain about the price & likely the way the car drives compared to the current car. "Toyota trying to lie to us." - the funny thing here is that we fans didn't exactly pay attention to how well the Mark 4 fared back when it was sold new (it wasn't exactly pretty... and we kinda disliked it at first) "They no longer care about performance so they shouldn't care." - and yet, why did Akio Toyoda create Gazoo Racing in the name of performance (something that Jason had touched up back in the LFA's 'Revelations' video)? He cares about that part even to this day.

"it became a joke of a sports car" - except, that's debunked by those who actually drive it. "The Supra of the 90's struck fear in the sports car world." - until it didn't.

"This is why this partnership sucks ass for Toyota." - and yet, the Supra spawned a GT4 race car (one of which won the DTM Trophy), a Formula D-winning platform, a Nurburgring 24h-tested performer (with chairman Toyoda at the helm), and various contestants in other racing series. Meanwhile, BMW basically did little-to-nothing on the Z4. So yeah, the partnership actually benefited Toyota greatly while providing us petrolheads with another straight-6-powered car in the era of electrification.

@NissanSkylineVR30 - "What I'm saying its the partnership is bad for Toyota" Not quite. Yes, the ECU issue is still there (somewhat); meanwhile, this is already offset by the 3.0-exclusive manual transmission which Toyota reportedly oversaw during development (even though this is based on an off-the-shelf ZF model that BMW also uses). I wouldn't fully dismiss this as a bad deal for Toyota, especially given what I wrote in the last comment.

Eh, nope. The LFA is the successor to the 2000GT (the car which the current Supra borrows some of its design elements from).

And yet, the current Supra is doing fine both on and off the track, even going so far as to race in the DTM Trophy, Nurburgring, among others and get a GT4 race version. Meanwhile, what did BMW do with the Z4 in recent years?

"MK4 Supra is the greatest thing that's happend for Toyota..." - except, not quite as you expect. The car was released at a time when Japan's economy in the 90's was falling, auto regulations were tightening, among others. Besides, the A80 wasn't exactly liked at first, and sales were low by the time production ended.

Not quite.

"The had a 1999 lemans winning gt1 ." - it's actually a Le Mans Prototype. GT1 (the first iteration) died by that point.

In modified form... the same isn't exactly said for the stock ones.
