Civic's a volume-seller car compared to the 86/BRZ, and besides, Southeast Asia (where I live) did not get the hatch for the current generation. The twins are more purpose-built.

Until you meet a corner where a tall ride height, higher center of gravity, and heavier weight would say otherwise. Don't forget the length.

To be frank, unless you have a long enough and straight enough road to make the most of (applicable to tracks also), rarely would a driver of a high-performance car reach the top speed. Besides, weight is often the enemy of a car: head for a corner and the mass and higher center-of-gravity would be liabilities to an SUV.

An Ecoboost Mustang is also heavier than the twins, and the chassis isn't exactly as capable for tighter turns.

Not quite.

Not quite. You still need to engineer the car to accept it, which can be expensive.

Much of the cost would also include chassis reinforcement, bigger brakes, additional hoses, etc. just to account for the power increase.

A V-shaped engine is also an airplane engine back in the day...

Based on a volume-seller.
