"Crimea is majority ethnic Russian" - ignoring the part that it was originally inhabites by the Crimean Tartars years earlier.

@FourFootRussianSuka - nope.

Nope.

@robertnickson8781 - nope.

If it were NATO, Russia would have lost a lot more than now.

"However all Ukraine had to do to avoid war was stay out of NATO" - here's the thing: most of Ukraine weren't even interested in joining NATO in the early 2000s and 2010s... and then Putin decided to take over Crimea. Also ironic: France and Germany both said 'no' to Ukraine joining NATO back in 2008.
1
Not quite.

Except, not quite. Besides, Russia has the Rusich Group--and ironically, Putin is okay with their existence.

@claudinefiona9698 - except, nope. And you know that.
1
Nope.

@bridgetamato6182 - again, nope. And you know it.

@bridgetamato6182 - again, nope. Don't play dumb. You know it ain't exactly the case.

Meirsheimer doesn't know much about eastern Europe, actually. "Russia is stronger than all of you combined" - lost the Russo-Japanese war, lost land in WWI and not considered part of the victors, lost the Polish-Soviet War, got humiliated in the Winter War despite taking some Finnish land in the end, lost the Soviet-Afghan War, and got humiliated in the First Chechen War. And it's now more than just humiliation in the current conflict with Ukraine, and now resorting to asking Iran and North Korea for help... and possibly China. And another irony: for all its achievements in WWII, Soviet official--including Stalin himself--OPENLY highlighted the importance of the western allies in their role of fighting Germany in the western front and supplying Moscow with Lend-lease. Also funny that a lot of the decorated Soviet heroes weren't of Russian ethnicity.
1
@nkodogi - yawn Why do I get the feeling you know it ain't exactly the case?
1
@VladPutin-q1o - "Ukranazis" - the Rusich Group says otherwise.
1
@jeffwalters7404 - except not quite.
1
@FourFootRussianSuka - nope. Besides, the former members of the Warsaw Pact would like a word.
1
Not quite, actually.
1
Except, nope.

"Just imagine that if the West had not tried to include Ukraine in NATO..." - one problem with that (well, two): France and Germany said "non" and "nein" respectively. "They knew that Ukraine's inclusion in NATO is an existensial threat to the security of Russia." - nope, and you know that.
1
Except, Moscow was--and still is--never formally interested.
