@smokescreen2146 - the Supra is a more mass-market car with an engine configuration that BMW and the older Supras use.

A bit of a fun fact is that Toyota's Rookie Racing is currently using a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Super Taikyu. Probably to gain some useful data to help with the GR GT3.

Current GT3 regs don't permit hybrids at the moment.
2
GT3 doesn't permit hybrid.

"It was defeated by vehicles that were half of its value" - and yet, look at where the LFA stands nowadays. It's already creeping closer to millions of dollars in resale value.

We're gonna have to wait for the camo to come off and (conservatively) its official reveal.
1
We would probably see an NSX situation where the car is badged as a Lexus in North America and a Toyota everywhere else.
1
Global. They already showed the GR GT3 Concept in North America with a Lexus badge.

Far too late to can the project.

Hate to break it, but GT3 race cars are purely ICE. What you heard in the video showing the car running was the transmission.

As GT3 regs don't allow hybrids or electric ATM, nope.

This applies to pretty much all manufacturers, not just Toyota.

GT3 don't permit hybrid or electric.

Most likely technical regulations for the GT3 class.

Even if the fictional catfish-looking LF-A were real, it still would catch unsuspecting people off-guard (assuming if the performace are on par with today's supercars).
1
@LCculater - that's a bot.
1
They went with BMW primarily for the straight-6 engine (like every other road-going Supra before the current one).
1
Something tells me you have no idea what Toyota's cooking up.

The video tweet shows a damp Fuji Speedway (evident by the spray coming from the prototype).
1
The video snippet of the prototype suggests a reuse of the RC F's V8.
1
The thing is: GT3 regs do not permit hybrid powertrains. The NSX is required to ditch it and be purely ICE only.
1
Pretty much correct. EDIT: I do suggest writing "ICE only" for clearer context, but at least you did some good effort.
