Not quite. Besides, two of the same points could be said about the A80 back when it was sold new, and the sales of it in the U.S. alone tell a lot (compared to the preceeding A70 model). For the 3JZ point, I'm afraid it doesn't exactly work that way. The JZ was used on multiple Toyota and Lexus cars, now they don't make it for production cars anymore. "People are willing to pay good money if they make what enthusiasts want." - doubt.

Not quite. Besides, more than 24,000 Supras were sold since 2019.

Sales of the A80 in the U.S. say otherwise (the current car is double).

"non-interference... chain driven motor" - not realistic.

Not quite. Besides, the Supra's manual is made by ZF.

"this pile of crap will remain the failure it is." - not quite, especially given how badly the A80 fared sales-wise in the U.S.

Doesn't exactly work that way. Besides, Toyota specifically requested a straight-6 and not much else beside the straight-4 for the 2.0 versions.

You do know that prior Supras before the A70 don't even have a JZ, right? Besides, even if a hypothetical 3JZ is made, there's still gonna be some unknowns.

@wiscopyro - welcome. Just doing a service, 'cuz I'm afraid we have selective memories and rose-tinted glasses regarding the Supra line. I just don't want the current car to suffer like what happened to the A80.

Doesn't work that way. The JZ was used on a number of Toyota and Lexus products, not just the Supra. Nowadays, there's no case for Toyota to develop a straight-6 engine for their cars.

The Supra (especially for the 3.0) is designed for spirited driving.

Some countries have taxes based on engine displacement.

24,000 units sold in the U.S. and quite a long waiting list say otherwise.

@Yogi5D - more than 24,000... in the U.S. alone - compared to how many A80s were sold new in the same market?
