"the GR86 still lacks power" - not exactly. Being a more budget-minded car, the twins are fine as-is in terms of power.

The GRZ twins are more dedicated sportscars compared to a Prius.

@demcomp - and which Subaru initially didn't want to get involved in until Toyota bought shares of Fuji Heavy Industries, essentially strongarming the the former to the project.

The car ain't focus on luxury anyway.

Not really. Besides, the A80 model doesn't even look like the preceeding A70 one.

They tried to make the road-going HSV-10GT. Unfortunately, you can thank the 2008 financial crisis for Honda canning it.

"But... 228hp and 2800 lbs isn't really bringing your game face to the match." - and to be honest, that's okay. It doesn't need much more horsepower to compete with the Mustang or Camaro: it all but solved the torque dip issues (the main problem of the 1st-gen cars).

@plektosgaming - comparing with the Ecoboost 4-pot models?
1
@plektosgaming - is it, or there's more to the car than at first glance? Not everyone buys a Mustang; some prefer the lightweight nature of the twins (a 2022 Ecoboost weighs in at 3,492 lbs. while the base Toyota and Subaru cars with MT are at 2,811 lbs. and 2,815 lbs. respectively). The Miata in the Sport trim and manual is lighter than them at 2,341lbs. And besides, where exactly in a public road where a Mustang would get to use most of its horsepower without getting noticed by the 5-0? The Miata and the twins would definitely make the most of their outputs safely there.
