Except, the 90's part isn't exactly rosy for the A80 model. Spoiler: the A80 was initally hated.

@Inferno45 - the Supra was never meant to compete with the GT-R, even with the previous two generations. It was meant to be a Z rival. Edit: For the A90, it was aimed at the Porsche Cayman and (if you known the French) the Alpine A110.

@DailyDriversCarReviews - I wouldn't write tomato just yet. Sure the Z offering the manual would give Toyota the incentive to develop the manual transmission, but using BMW's straight-6 engine? Toyota went to them mainly because of that configuration. Besides, do many people forget the somewhat abysmal sales of the Mark IV Supra, especially during the time that Japan's economy declined in the 90s?
