@EPYes - the RC's platform isn't exactly good compared to the one the Supra uses.

The current car sticks with the straight-6, RWD, and two-door coupe formula while making it a more potent sportscar than the previous generations. Besides, the CEO was involved with the development, too.
2
Not quite. Still ZF-made, but Toyota-specific tuning.
2
At least in the US, it outsold the A80.
2
@carboydorifutoparty3976 - and besides, let's not forget that we didn't buy a lot of A80s back when they were brand new and some of us outright hated it at first.
2
Not quite. Supra back then was meant to be against the Z. In fact, it never was supposed to be a GT-R competitor to begin with.
1
No need, especially given Nissan's current situation. Plus, Toyota has a CEO that races every so often. Besides, the GT-R is already in the 6-figures.

@MidNiteR32 - not really a wet fart.
1
If any car is to be sold specifically in the Japanese market, then it's JDM.
1
@MauiWauiPineappleExpress - pretty simple: Toyota requested a straight-6 engine. And to make development costs more affordable for the Zupra.
1
A80 Supras back when they were new weren't even cheap to begin with (at least in NA).

"And we get a BMW without enough Horsepower and Torque! In my opinion." - it actually has a little more horsepower than you think, even if the model comes only with the 335 hp straight-6. "And a Turbo model would have been nice too." - it's all turbocharged.
1
"Toyota simply rebadged BMW Z4's." Not really. In fact, both BMW and Toyota developed a more purpose-built platform based on the former's CLAR just for the two cars.
1
Its competitor is the Cayman (Boxster for the Z4) and (in Europe and Japan) the Alpine A110.
1
Not really.
1
Not quite the whole story. The manual was hinted well before the Z.
1
The SupraMKV forum did a dimensions comparison between the J29 and A80. The former's not just a bit shorter, but also a bit wider than the latter. Besides, hasn't Papadakis confirmed that the B58 engine can be tuned to at least 1000hp?
1
That's more of a common myth. It happened mainly due to customer demand.
1
Is it really just a rebadge, considering that the two cars don't share a platform with any existing ones BMW made?
1
A "girl's car" that is tested and raced at the Nurburgring with CEO Akio Toyoda at the wheel, won the DTM Trophy driver's championship with Tim Heinemann, won the Formula Drift championship two times with Fredric Aasbø... That's too far from being a "girl's car".
1
Look at Toyota's 2000GT and compare it to the current Supra.
