@theheadshot45 - Finland remained independent after the Winter War despite losing some land. Different situation compared to Germany's after WWII (in which Finland also remained independent).
7
"FIndland did dnot survived the soviet invasion" - except, they did.
7
Not quite.
7
Still stood.
6
"Finland folded like a deck of cards" - incorrect, I'm afraid.
6
@bryananderson3772 - "Just like NATO forced the war today" - nope, and you know it.
5
Except, not quite.
5
"The United States' government started this war by deliberately provoking Russia into preemtively attacking Ukraine." Nope, not quite.
5
Except, you forget the part that the Soviets actually helped Germany during the Interwar Years.
5
Then why was the Finnish Democratic Republic established?
5
Did you know that Moscow was also allied with the Nazis at the time of the Winter War?
4
"Finland did NOT survived" - they did. "Surviving" means remaining independent, and continues to do so to this day. No one's denying that Finland lost parts of their territory.
4
@shoora813 - still survived. Their government remained free from the Soviets, don't try to deny it.
4
"after taking what they needed to defend thenselves against Nazis" - while forgetting that there's the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact... and before that, helping the Germans with their tank training in violation of the Treaty of Versailles
4
@Progress_or_Barbarism - come clean. You know what you're doing.
4
@Progress_or_Barbarism - again, come clean.
4
"big mistake to join NATO" - nope. Putin made Finland join NATO - and brought along Sweden.
3
Hate to break it, but why was the Finnish Democratic Republic established if the Soviets "weren't planning to annex Finland"?
3
"Russia invades other country = defending itself" - and erasing local culture and language. Still imperialism.
3
Except the part of overthrowing Helsinki if the Finnish Democratic Republic that Moscow held found were to indicate.
3
@DinoAlberini - and let's not forget how the Soviets trained the very Germans that would invade them later (look at the LeichtTraktor as an example).
3
"The Russians were just chasing the Nazis out." - and yet, they actually helped the Germans in their military buildup during the Interwar Period.
3
@ilmari1452 - and why was the Finnish Democratic Republic established if Moscow "didn't want all of FInland"?
3
To put it plainly: why did Moscow do the same thing?
3
@theheadshot45 - not cope, I'm afraid. And you know it full stop.
2
@MarxinRios - fun fact: the Soviets actually helped the very Germans that would invade them later (case in point, the Leichttraktor).
2
@londop.a.3048 - something tells me you're missing a lot of context for Finland siding with the Nazis.
2
Finland remains independent after the Winter War, so yes it did survive.
2
@Harvest133 - not quite, it seems. Again, there's the Finnish Democratic Republic.
2
@Harvest133 - dude, don't play dumb.
2
Nope "and supporting the 2014 coup in Ukraine" - again, nope. That's debunked (it's actually Yanukovych failing to bring Ukraine to the EU).
2
@spatrk6634 - "It was never the plan to annex finland into the soviet union." - then why was the Finnish Democratic Republic established if the Soviets weren't "planning to annex Finland"?
2
@SirPeacemaker - the answer is pretty obvious here. Finland survived as an independent entity to this day.
2
Except, not quite.
2
And yet, why was the Finnish Democratic Republic established again?
1
@PeterMaXXHorvath - except not quite, and you know it.
1
Soviets didn't capture Helsinki, failed to bring in the Finnish Democratic Republic, lost a good chunk of men for little strategic gains... Yes, Finland survived the war and continues to exist to this day.
1
@arijao92 - "I agree joining NATO was a huge mistake though" - not really. Besides, the events at Moldova and Chechnya were more than enough for people to not mind joining.
1
@dimas3829 - same can be said with Russia despite using different methods. No one's disagreeing here that no one's hands during the Chechen wars were clean, but the reason why I mentioned it anyway is because Eastern Europeans know how Moscow operates (some firsthand).
1
@dimas3829 - not quite. And you know that...
1
Off-topic there, buddy.
1
@Jerry-sw8cz - see "Finnish Democratic Republic" "THEIR CONCERN WAS TO DENNY THE NAZIES PLATFORM TO LAUCH INVASIONS" - and Moscow failed horribly, especially when they forced most of their most competent officers and soldiers to the firing squad or gulags. Oh, there's also the Leichttraktor and Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. And there's the part that Berlin was echoing pro-Soviet propaganda while the war progressed.
1
Except, not quite.
1
Except, Germany was running pro-Moscow messaging over the course of the Winter War.
1
And yet, the creation of the Finnish Democratic Republic says otherwise.
1
"The Ukraine has lost the war" - not quite.
1
@brucknerian9664 - in 2024 when the CIA/Nato led a coup to overthrow the democraticallly elected government in power" - nope, it's debunked.
1
@JonTan-z3e - "if i recall correctly it was the soviet union that single handedly defeated facism and saved the world" - while ignoring the part that they propped up said Germans during the Interwar Period, invaded Poland back in the 1920's only to fail the first time - and then succeeded in 1939 with the agreement of the Mustache Man. "ur 31 friends in western europe and northern europe and UK didnt couldnt even do a thing and all fell like dominoes." - while on the subject of WWII, said friends in western and northern Europe stopped the German advance on the western front, stopped the German advance on the North Africa front, curbed the U-boat menace in the Atlantic threating allied shipping (and that includes some of Lend-lease heading to Russia), launched bombing raids on German factories, air fields, rail lines, among other things and established air superiority over mainland Europe by 1945, launched an invasion into said mainland via D-Day that stretched the Germans very thin and lead them to their defeat. Even some prominent Soviet officials--supposedly including Stalin himself--pointed out the importance of the western allies during the war.
1
"They didn't" - they did. Finland wasn't able to fully retake their captured territories, but they remained independent. As for the Soviets, they weren't able to win either - especially considering that they established the now-botched Finnish Democratic Republic for the purpose of managing Helsinki.
1
@Elkdepompeya -buddy, you know it ain't half of Finland.
