No offense, by I suggest digging deeper into the history of the car before calling it one of the "gayest". What they don't realize is that they're also accidentally badmouthing the classic European roadsters that inspired the MX-5.

You might want to take a look at the MX-5 Cup.

Not quite. Given the lightweight nature of the body, 180hp is pretty adequate.
1
Not quite. Besides, not everyone will be exceeding 100 mph at some point in their lives.
1
@Corvolet5 - I didn't say "car" here, I'm referring to everyone who has a license (even to those who are not driving anymore).
1
@Corvolet5 - not this case. What I'm pointing out here is that a lot of people aren't exactly ready to handle speeds in excess of the aforementioned 100 mph. Even though I regularly (and barely) exceed that during track driving, it's still not without risks. And besides, driving on public roads is usally restricted by the 5-0 and other local laws.
1
@Corvolet5 - "Doesn't mean we should all be driving Geo Metros." - I didn't imply that, ya know. "The fact that the Miata hasn't changed one bit..." - here's the thing: this part is false, if you ever paid close attention over the years since the ND model is on sale since 2014. "...while Mazda is also charging more of the package just tells us they don't try to make a serious sports car and rely on their idiotic fanbase to suck up the same product over years and years." - while the price has some merits, there's also the thing called inflation. On the second part, this suggests you honestly don't understand the entire point of the car. EDIT: And you can't just compare the ND generation to the 370Z and R35 GT-R since Mazda is a smaller manufacturer as opposed to Nissan.

The MX-5 Cup say otherwise.
1
Always been that way since the original model.
1
"If you disagree your not a car person" - regulation says otherwise. And I'm still a car person even with that statement.
1
Which is more than adequate.
1
@احمدسعيد-ق4ن7ه - except, that 200 hp is more held back by the chassis and the car's weight. Besides, they're not exactly set up for sporty driving like the Miata.
1
The MX-5 Cup would like a word.
1
@aneticus9337 - you got to be joking. Let the public highway remind your that a Tesla's 0-60 time is next to useless, especially with traffic. Besides, the "ability' to drive themselves isn't exactly what you think it is.
1
It is a sports car. It doesn't require much horsepower for those in the know to have fun, besides it's lightweight.
1
Not really.
1
@mahmoudqaid7152 - $28,985 for the Sport model isn't exactly that expensive considering that the curb weight of the car is 2,341 lbs.
1
Not quite. OTOH, people saying that the Miata's "slow" should do some track driving.
1
@Reno420alex - does a West Racing Cars VITA-01 qualify even though the engine on the car I rented is a very slightly-tuned one from a subcompact econobox? I heard that one beat a Mustang lap-wise. Besides, your faster cars tend to have quite a substantial amount of weight. I wouldn't suggest dismissing the Miata yet.
1
@Reno420alex - no offense, but if I were to be honest here, something tells me you're underestimating the appeal of the Miata. There's a partial reason why I brought up the VITA-01. Besides, there's the MX-5 Cup.
1
And heavier at 2952 lbs vs. the Sport MX-5's 2341 lbs. That's more than 600 lbs difference.
1
1,089 kg when converted.
1
"Lotus is a wayyyyyy better option" - while forgetting that one of the cars that heavily influenced the MX-5 is also a Lotus (the Elan). Besides, there's the price.
1
"It'll never be an S2000." - it was never meant to be that.
1
@AGuyJustDriving - "not cherry picking" - I'm not cherry-picking here.
1
No need, just keep it NA and tune up the motor.
