If he wanted to clarify his position, maybe he should have tried a form of protest that didn’t result in his death? Any kind of message like this is bound to need unpacking when the information space is so contested.

Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine's head of military intelligence, raised the alarm that the Wagner fighters reached the nuclear base Voronezh-45 and that their intention was to acquire small Soviet-era "backpack" nuclear demolition devices.

Imagine if Travis King is a superspy assassin with a deeply buried secondary personality which knows kung fu and will trigger once he is in touching distance of Kim Jong Un. It would be hilarious!

The RoRo ferry Galaxy Leader is still under Houthi control. Wanna hear a crazy theory about Roll On Roll Off ferries like the MV Bang Chui Dao? The MV Bang Chui Dao has a ramp that can launch and recover Amphibious IFVs at sea and did so in 2019. Yemen has about 100 BMP-2s in the country, I wonder if they could fit a sea launch ramp to the MV Galaxy Leader and then sail to Eilat, Israel and get close enough to launch the IFVs so they reach shore with enough fuel left to do some fighting? They could pack the weather deck with Israeli hostages so any anti shipping missile will see the hostages die on livestream. Coordinate that with a ground invasion Hezbollah from the north and the BMPs in the south could punch a corridor to the Gaza strip and give the Palestinians access to the red sea and escape to Yemen. That would make Iran very happy.

when shipping gets attacked the whole global economy is under attack

Look at what happened with Israel: Israel gave passes to Palestinians to work in Israel earn 10x what they could earn in Palestine. Israel relied on robots to monitor the border and undermanned it for years. Israel thought that if they just gradually improved conditions for the Palestinians they'd stop saying "Death to Israel" and become moderates. And it didn't work. The enemy gets a vote too.

Peter Theil (Facebook, Paypal) and Palmer Luckey (oculus rift) founded Anduril Industries which sells a product called Lattice. Lattice lets you set the policies and ROE on a drone swarm that contiuously operates autonomously in an area and their individual sensors detect, categorize, distribute and defeat the threats autonomously.

In the 1938 future australian prime minister Robert Menzies forced the export of iron to Japan. Japan was using the iron to make war materiel for their undeclared war in China, with the Rape of Nanking occurring only one year prior. When the dockworkers refused to load pig iron onto the Steam Ship Dalfram headed to Japan, Menzies used his powers as the Attorney General to end the strike and accused the dock workers of using industrial action to dictate foreign policy, thus earning himself the nickname "Pig Iron Bob." The Imperial Japanese were kind enough to return the pig iron to Darwin by air, in the form of bomb casings, free of charge.

Colonizers have Africa right where they want it. Submissive and strip minable. Consider this: african peoples have existed longer than all other nations in the world. What have they been doing with their time while everyone else was learning to fight?

The contract was always that the civilian population feeds and supports the military and the military shapes the world for the civilian government. If there are too many shutdowns, too many budgets don’t pass, then that contract may not exist anymore. After that, we will discover that force is the one thing you cannot externally regulate, because what can enforce rules on force? A new age of imperial conquest will dawn.

ECOWAS isn't ready to move. The deadline is passed and no dramatic strike has taken place to send the message. The only hope is that Russia will not be able to economically support Wagner's attempts to build a series of puppet governments across Africa from the Atlantic to the Red Sea due to the economic drain from the coming Fall of Crimea and the sinking of Russian navy landing craft ships like the Olenegorsky Gornyak.

There is a big difference: Hamas is bad at surviving.

Yeah. IDF knows the date and nobody else needs to know. If the IDF said "we have NOT confirmed a date" that would be bigger news because it means something is wrong.

I wonder if Stephane Jullien and Mohamed Bazoum will be held at the same facility to prevent escape or if they will be separated to deter a rescue?

They could have had prosperity like China did if only NK joined the rules based international order any time in the 60s, 70s, 80s or even the 90s. We would have showered them in business opportunities in the 2000s and 2010s. But the era of global trade is ending, and you sleep in the bed you made.
