  1. Knee jerk reactions are bad. But responding to such international reports that are used by domestic politicians for politics deserve to be analysed and responded to. A VDem report which claims that India is less of a democracy than 10 to 20 years ago is illogical. The number of defamation cases filed is legal process being followed. How does the usage of domestic laws like defamation, and the authorities of the state to resolve long standing issues like CAA, NRC and abolishing article 370, amount to autocracy? It is as if suggesting that the mark of a democracy lies in incompetence and pushing burdens down the line without ever solving problems with as little bloodshed as possible(as with the internet shutdown in kashmir).
