Micheal. You would need to qualify to be able to drive a train which is far more involved than driving a bus which if it breaks down you tip everyone off and wait for the mechanic unlike on a train where the driver has to rectify the defect all in a very short space of time due to the fact that trains can't drive around each other like your bus can. May I suggest you apply for a train operators role and stop going down the usual route of thinking they are the same jobs. They aren't.

@BorisVasilev Everytime tube staff strike they are docked pay so the idea of them getting paid through strike action is complete nonsense just like the notion of driverless trains as you've kind of answered your own question in your comment RE the Elizabeth line - now over 5 years behind. Your other points look like you would like to live in some form of dictatorship. I take it you don't live in the UK.

@DavidGreen-pc1im And who are you going to get to train these " new " recruits as you've just sacked the original Driver/instructor? Maybe one of bojos " new " 20,000 police officers that he's putting on the streets to replace the 21,000 that May got rid of ( all fully trained ) could do some multi tasking between police work/ training drivers/ and pumping the tyres up on the water cannons 🤯

The tories should give everyone a cap to doff. Put anyone whose not from a public school background on £15k tops and a 60hr week. Start sending kids back up chimneys as well.
