Yes, but a lot of those readers remember Britain when it was great. Street parties, fish n chips in newspapers, and being able to leave your front door open because you had fuck all to nick.

@richardcory5024 They have been blaming Labour/covid/EU/France for anything. Heads firmly in the sand. Here's me thinking remainers were supposed to be the moaning lot.

@creativecascades1328 The northerners voted for brexit because of immigration and the controlling borders bollox. Lorry drivers and people working in restaurants and bars getting pay rises which were long overdue didn't have much to do with it imo. Besides that, who in their right mind will be driving a lorry to and from the continental routes come next year once the new rules kick in? No UK workers were taking these extra jobs left over by EU workers both in the transport or hospitality sector, that's the reason why Patel had to go cap in hand offering " special " visas for lorry drivers abroad that only a reported 9 people took up the offer! In the lakes this August at the height of the tourist season pubs and restaurants were closing at 8pm due to lack of staff and supplies. Now they are flapping about up north complaining about being duped. They actuality believed bojo the clown gave a shit about anyone living outside of London! 🤦

@gdwnet It was in my manor Gary. Unfortunately quite a racist area though. Strange that it seems to have reverted back to how it was. A lot of mortgage free pensioners worried about people from abroad taking their jobs and houses!

I've told the kids that they can have cash this Christmas and pay for their own delivery costs. Bah humbug.

@creativecascades1328 Seasonal demand CC. Lorry drivers pay will rise according to that demand. After Jan 1st things will change with the rules. More freight than ever is being pushed back onto rail and despite what you hear in the news trains don't drive themselves or that a monkey could do it. The route learning alone on some routes can take many months. As for cheap labour, this will always be the case. You can't tell me that a company will pay £15 an hour for someone to serve people in bars and restaurants and so the only people prepared to work for the lower pay are people from abroad. The removal of FoM has and will cause many problems . Take the 1.8m living abroad where many will have to come back to the uk and place more burdens on an already pushed NHS. Then you have the loss of taxes paid to the UK. If you take the 3.8m eu workers that originally came here, 850k claimed from us but the rest contributed 4 times what was claimed so we were quids in. Depends how you look at things. If you are one of these people that blame others for your own problems then you will never have your mind changed. A lot of UK people grumble but when fruit and veg lay rotting in the fields where were they?? In their beds, that's where.

@creativecascades1328 The only way people in lower paid jobs such as the hospitality industry will get higher pay is if the wages bill is pushed onto the customer. So your fucked either way. You can keep holding onto your idea of British jobs for British people but the government will always need people from other countries doing the jobs that the brits won't or can't do. They might not need those from the EU but they will come from other parts of the world. The trouble with brexit is that in the pursuit for bullshit sovereignty the patriots still won't accept that the return for cheap shit from the US and Australia is the death of the farmers, fisherman etc here in the UK. Not very patriotic in my mind.
