  1. Take his passport? Why? That won't stop him from LEAVING the US, and as a Chinese national they'll let him in no matter what, and about that...he was taken to Hong Kong, which they seem to conflate with China in this movie (most likely for CHINESE AUDIENCES AND GOVERNMENT APPROVALS), but that is incorrect.
