  1. My water distribution certification/license class textbook, from a reputable California university used nationwide, has a whole section on dowsing, what equipment to use, how to do it. In the industry it's well-known to work, especially among the older operators. My own mentor said he'd tried it and it didn't work well for him, but he'd seen other guys he worked with could dowse water lines better than the magnetic locate machine.
