You think goods are a problem, just wait until your water stops running. I operate a water treatment plant, at least once in the last year we came within hours of having to shutdown due to chemicals delivery delays. Just in time meant it arrived only a week late. Recently I ordered 2 weeks early and still had a week delay from expected delivery. And thats a product that's produced in state, only 2 hours away. First step of food prep planning is WATER. ALWAYS GUARANTEE WATER FIRST. Maybe I'm biased by my profession, but when I first got tipped off to the pandemic in early 2019 and started prepping, very first thing I procurred was water treatment equipment so I could guarantee I had clean water. Doing that for a living helps :), but it's a problem everyone needs to address, immediately. Don't be fooled, our utility infrastructure is PRECARIOUS.

And before you even ask, the products I have, which I tested in my own EPA compliant lab, that are safe, effective, and useful are: An Alexapure gravity filter with multiple carbon block filters, and an MSR MiniWorks EX pumped filter. That's more than enough capacity for one person to meet all your daily consumption needs at home and away, regardless of source water quality. I've tested both on Mississippi River raw water, and their effluent product tested both biologically safe and within limits for aesthetic quality, though I would recommend further disinfection with low-dose/long contact time chlorination just in case if there is ANY question. Stay safe!

Further note, with the chlorine shortage, consumer grade chlorine is not easily available. You can use clear 2 liter bottles for disinfecting. Fill them with your filtered water, place them in direct outside sunlight in the morning, and your water will be virtually sterile by dusk. The sun is an excellent UV sterilization source, this method is used extensively and very effectively in 3rd world/developing nations. There may be some concern about plastic leaching, but that's a problem to worry about later, when your NOT trying to survive dehydration or fatal waterborne illness😉
