I tell people the most important part of my university education was the 7 years I worked as student help in academia, it showed me these 'learned' people are just as if not more vain, petty, treacherous, lecherous, and conniving than any other person. I almost saw a cat fight between two instructors in their later years, women, over one staying over time in a room and cutting into the other's class time, and trying to say because she is a full professor and the other is just an adjunct professor, she should get more time...way to care about the education of HER students that bought that time you're pilfering.

  15. The ACLU has a video that's great and tells you exactly how to deescalate a stop and not get arrested OR surrender any of your guaranteed rights. He did everything that video tells you NOT to do. I've followed that video's advice for my whole driving career, lots of fuckups, and it's served me well. I've gotten stopped smoking weed with an AR-15 in the back seat, loaded, plain view, was nice to the sheriff's deputy who stopped me for going too SLOW, and all he really hassled me about was why I had a red dot instead of a scope. I could have just as easily turned that into getting shot in the face by that deputy with different actions.

  27. The FIRST thing you should always be saying to that officer, before ANYTHING, "Officer, can I ask why you stopped me?" You need that articulable suspicion right up front, you MAKE that officer directly accuse you of a crime, otherwise we're done. No articulable suspicion, I'm asking if I'm free to leave. I've gotten pulled over before, street racing, triple digits on the interstate, crowded traffic, passed a cop, he stopped me. LIVID, I saw him pop his holster thumb break when he jumped out, and when I asked him "Can I ask why you pulled me over" he was so shocked and pissed he jumped back almost into interstate traffic....and then gave me a WARNING. He was in a admin car, no radar gun, he didn't pace me, what was he going to say in court, the suspect was going 'fast'? And the guy I was racing he let go, so? He did make me hand him my car keys, take my sunglasses off, and told me to put both hands THROUGH the steering wheel and both palms flat on the dash while he ran my info, and lectured me about the interstate not being my personal race track and these are REAL people in these other cars, not obstacles, and sent me on my way to finish my drive to work lol.

  39. My university told me that, oh youre a CS major, take all the loans you want you'll make tons of cash when you graduate, its a done deal! Honestly, even my academic advisors said that. Then the real world says no you need a degree AND 10 years experience for this internship YOU have to pay for, not get paid for. My sister on the other hand, an actuary, she was making $50k/year as a freshman in her internship, then after graduation she went full time at that firm and had almost a decade there when she went into commercial banking.

But yes, remember, anyone ever killed by police is technically innocent under our system, as you are presumed innocent until tried via due process and convicted by a lawful court.   42. Ok, I did some digging, and SUBJECT is CORRECT. In federal investigation, you are a subject when you are being investigated. You are only a suspect once you are charged with a crime, ie you're a subject of an investigation, and once that investigation yields evidence that rises to the level of charging, you're charged and now suspected of committing said illegal act. Subtle difference but there the difference is. They can't charge a dead guy with a crime, so he'll never make it to suspect.

If it's terrorism, that means it at the least has some sort of meaning. It happened for some reason, even if a crazy reason. It would be far worse, in my opinion, by my thought processes, if it was just some random event, some crazy that decided to do a thing and it means nothing. We can make sense of out purposeful violence, they were killed for an idea, or someone was killed for money, something like that. But someone you love randomly dying for no reason at all, that's terrifying. The Las Vegas shooting is like that. We never found out why it happened. What was the REASON? All those people just died to die for no reason whatsoever, at random, apparently. Stay safe.
