  1. Yes, the comment about coasting...isn't the whole point of a relationship that it makes life easier, less effort, because it's two people combining their resources and talents and efforts? Or is that just me lol? If one gets less out of a relationship than they put in, if it's a negative in your life, a losing investment, why have it? It would be like a sport where you can run solo, or you can run with a partner but with a partner you get a penalty of this 50lb weight vest and you have 10 seconds added to your time, now go out there and win! Everyone would choose that race solo, and you'd never see a team of two win. But, if that same event was a relay, where you could tag in or out your partner through the race while the other rests, in most cases they'd dominate solo competitors who have to run the whole race.

  2. "They just want to coast". Isn't the whole ideal relationship one that makes life easier, less effort, because two working together can accomplish more than individuals? If it's more work to work with someone, why would you do that lol? It's like having a sport where you can compete solo, or choose to compete in the same event with a partner but there's a penalty for having a partner, a handicap. Everyone would compete solo.
